In terms of average temperature Ireland is always coldest from Dec-Feb with a slight increase between March and April but it's May before ground temperatures go back into double digits (this is when the grass starts to really grow again) with a noticable increase from June-Sept. My perception of summers as a kid is the same though, I seem to remember really warm summers for some reason but meteorologically nothing has changed in my lifespan.

What data are you looking at Ed ?

Is the data that you are referring to, a few years out of date, perhaps - or maybe over such a long period, that recent years changes haven't really impacted the long term curve yet?

Met Eireann you can go back to 1961 on their website! That more than covers my own curve.

And mine... I'm not that old, you know :D

I was actually thinking of the more recent years btw.

Yeah it's up to and including this year! Nothing really changes in the numbers, they're remarkably consistent on an average basis over the last 50 years.

Haven't looked at any data so this is just my own, probably wrong, impressions, but it has gotten to the point where I don't expect good weather in June - August. I think we seem to get the brightest sunniest (but not necessarily warmest) weather in April-May and September. There's only been one really good consistently dry bright summer that I can recall in the last decade.

Next time you are going there, park in town at Iceland and get the free shuttle bus out.

They run all weekend from 11am to 5pm to Curracloe. It’s only started this weekend and of course they bring you back too. Handy service .

They had the car parks blocked off at 10.30 it was that busy. Good management by the Guards this weekend.

My own little village in Rosslare Strand wasn’t as busy as the bank holiday weekend.

We go there a lot only an hour from home.
Thanks for the info on the bus I was trying to find out where it was based from. Rosslare strand is beautiful too just alittle far. If we make it that far one weekend I let you know might even get a scoop

Unbelievable weather there today, dare I say it nearly too hot for this country. Was up in Dalkey today for a day out abd it was absolutely smashing, swimming in the sea, lunch in the sun then out to the folks for a BBQ. I'd scarcely leave this country if we got this weather.
