The five yellow card count is reset on 31st December, then the 10 card count is reset on second Sunday in April. Not sure if Klopp is that sort of manager but I'd have been urging him to pick up a yellow towards the end of the game sunday. Maybe he was trying but cant remember any specific challenge myself
The thresholds have changed for this season. 19 matches for the first threshold. 32 matches for the 2nd. End of the season for the 3rd.
I'm not sure how I feel about leaving Fabinho out of the Villa game. I get the argument that we dont want him to miss the City game, but we'd basically turning a 1 game ban into 2 games. I'm not saying we shouldn't do it but theres an argument that theres a risk factor to be weighed up beyond not having him for City.
Klopp does not strike me as the type of guy that drops a player to avoid him getting a yellow card, I would imagine it goes against everything that he's about. If he's meant to play against Villa then he should play against Villa and if he misses City because of yellow cards then so be it.
I would agree with Ed, in that it would not be in Klopp's nature just to drop a player so they don't get suspended but also feel Fabinho can not play every league and CL game. He is going to need to get rest/be rotated eventually. My take is why not kill 2 birds with one stone and give Fab his rest and also ensure he is available for City (a game that will have a major bearing on the title).
Theres normally a method to rotation though with the optimum timing being based on a players fatigue levels, fixture congestion and where other players bodies are at that point taken into account. But managers will always have to weigh that up against winning so not all the sports science advise can always be followed and for all we know Saturday is a good time for giving him a rest.
Or Jonny Giles think he had a harder time today than last weekend in fairness he is a genuine midfield player...
Cheap at half the price if we knew he was going to be this influential. Another top class performance yesterday!!
Feel sorry for Fabinho - he scored with a brilliant strike, it went like a bullet to the back of the net - but all the commentators and analysts wanted to talk about was the var decision . Another brilliant performance from Fabinho!!
Kenny Cunningham making a fool of himself doubling down saying Sunday proved that Fabinho struggles defensively
