I am sitting beside a friend of mine and he is a hardcore GTA fan and has the game for PS3, he strongly suggest you get a PS3 as it has better graphics and one small note the XBOX360 will have exclusive downloadable content (extra missions etc...) whereas you will not get this with Sony PS3.

Personally I have an XBOX360 myself and I dont have GTA but I like the XBOX360 so I am sure both are good consoles.

    ps3-pros-
    blu-ray compatablity
looking like it will beat 360 in the console market sales soon enough
the joypad if you dont want to part from their design.
very powerful, games should get better when developers get used to ps3.
    free online gameplay

Cons-expensive to buy at 400 euro for a 40gig and god knows how much for a used 60gig
    not enough exclusive games
games are more expensive on ps3 usually.

360-Pros-very cheap with varying options starting with the arcade version for 200
    plentiful selection of games
    nice joypad.
runs gta slightly better according to reports and defo got new DLC.
    xbox live is good.

Cons-probably over halfway into its life cycle. starting to wither a bit vs Ps3
    no HD format like Blu-ray.
Games may not fit onto a dvd soon enough.
    might get RROD.(console failure)
need to pay for online play.

i have a 360 and cant complain about it

online is much better for the 360 than the ps3 due to the vast amount of users in the usa with xboxs

I have both consoles and would recommend the PS3 any day.

The main pro for the 360 is XBox Live which has a 2 year head start on the PS3 but it will catch it up eventually. The PS3 is only beginning its life cycle, is much more powerful a machine and the blu ray discs used for games can hold 5 times more than the dvd discs used by the 360. The 360 is beginning to flag shown by the fact there are 3 or 4 versions of it, which almost smacks of desperation.

The 360 is cheaper right now which is keeping it going, but if you want to make a good investment the PS3 will be around for quite some time. A lot of the big titles now are cross platform so there are no real exclusives on either side that are true console sellers (though Gears of War was on first release) to warrant picking one over the other, its just a case of whether you are interested in whats available right now or the long term.

Also a major problem with the 360 is the fan in it makes it sound like a plane taking off and you can always hear it.

i agree with what you said but i dont think sony will catch up on this aspect, it doesnt seem to be a major priority for sony. my current thinking is buy a 360 now but after a while, sell that on and buy the ps3 when it gets cheaper later on in its life.

3 for 30 euro on xbox360 games down in Xtra Vision Wicklow Town so I am presuming its the same in all Xtra Visions. A fella who I work with came in with 3 yesterday, Need For Speed, Test Drive and some other game. Not the newer ones but good games all the same, may be worth a look!

    Got the xbox anyway.
    Man im delighted with it.
    Got GTAiv and Euro2008.
    Chuffed with both.
Had Fifa 08 on ps2 and thought it was terrible, uefa is a real improvement.
BTW El Nino is mint on it, no surprise.

Have that on the PS3 myself, not into x box at all.
Torres is deadly alright, makes a great partnership in the game with david villa, be great if they could do it at anfield too.

I hope your not comparing a game on the PS2 to one on the 360 becuase thats like comparing a game on the old Xbox to the 360, PS3 is more powerful than the 360 too, it may not show it now with cross platform games but it will when the extra capacity of blu ray discs over old dvd discs begin to be utilised.

Yea actually I was comparing fifa on PS2 to Uefa on 360, probably unfair as you pointed out.
Anyway think its great on the 360 and happy with my choice.
In time I may get the PS3 but decided to go for a bit of a change to half tray and justify the large fork out on a new console and a couple of games.

    ps3 v xbox v wii

    Hi folks,

I'm a gaming virgin and was considering taking the plunge. I was thinking of getting the ps3 because it doubles as a blue ray player.

Are the others capable of playing blue ray discs?

Which console is better for gaming?

Which has a better choice of games?

Please help and please forgive my ignorance:confused::confused:

One thing to bear in mind is that the Wii is great fun but if you're into "serious gaming" I'd avoid the wii. Personally I like light-hearted fun 2 player games which is why I bought the wii.
If that's not your cup of tea I'd steer clear of it and consider the other 2 options instead.

Are the others capable of playing blue ray discs? No only the PS3 can play blue ray dvd although there is talk of the x360 bringing out a separate Blue ray dvd player soon
Which console is better for gaming? X360 & PS3 better for the mature gamer
Which has a better choice of games? X360 has most of the best titles exclusively where the PS3 is only new and only has a few exclusive games. The PS3 is still very expensive at around €400 while you can get a X360 for under €200 now.

I went for PS3 and have no complaints. PS3 took alot of flak for not releasing enough games when it launched as it was concentrating on making Bluray dominant for HD-DVD. With that battle won it seems to be catching up gamewise. Apparantly PS3 is the more powerful machine and will have more exclusive games in the future than xbox, which is limited by the amount you can fit on a HD-DVD disc compared to a bluray one. Xbox seems to be better at the moment for online gaming I think. I'd agree too if your after a more serious gaming kit then go for one of those two over wii.

Id go for xbox, its out a year longer than the ps3 so most people have one compared to the ps3. the only game your really missing out is metal gear solid 4 and if your not an avid gamer you havent played the first 3 so you wont mind. there is alot more x box games out also so you will have way more choice
