Graphics capabilities are very similar...it all comes down to how much you want the blu ray dvd player...of course the xbox has vastly superior online capabilites coupled with signature games such as gears of war (second one coming out) and halo...
I'm sorry to say no, they are not. The PS3 has 8 or 9 (can't remember which) co-processors just for graphics alone. Blue-Ray games look FAR better than the Xbox gaems do. Well, that's just my opinion and I've got them both.
i have ps3 and think i made the right choice, mate has xbox and the noise would definitely put me off.
I have to agree and disagree with you there mate.Fair enough it is quite noisy but you would want to have the actual game volume way down to hear it...
i have a 360 myself and yeah it is a bit noisy but that wouldn't put me off to be honest. xbox live is excellent. i think the xbox has the better games so far, halo3 ..... cracker. i can't say i can see too much difference in the graphics between the 2 to be honest.
Graphics: pretty much the same at the moment although ps3 has more potential for improvement with future games. Games: xbox360 hands down, quantity and quality. again ps3 SHOULD improve with time. DVD playback: ps3 wins here with built in Blu-ray. Xbox360 needs a seperate add-on player and the noise is very off putting. Online gaming: xbox360 is the far better experience but you have to pay for it. Personally, I always wait a few years for prices to drop and for an increased range of cut-price games. Im not a big gamer so Im happy to stick with my ps2 for a while. Anytime I get itchy fingers and think bout upgrading I think back to my Commodore64 days and realise I'm content with what I have
I've a xbox elite and its far quieter than the Premium or Core consoles. The noise isn't an issue generally. I've played the PS3 a bit as a neighbor has one.......not much difference graphics wise. At the moment the games on the Xbox are better. Have played Assassins Creed on both and well tyhe xbox version is better....smoother for some reason. The online experience of the xbox is far better! In time the PS3 will most likely take over however M$ are thought to be releasing an Xbox360 Ultimate later this year which will have an improved graphics engine, inbuilt HD DVD drive, inbuilt wireless access and larger hard drive. So this will balance things somewhat me thinks. In saying all that, the Xbox is the better solution. If you have a windows machine in the house on the same network, you can stream music, movies, pictures etc using it. If you have Windows Media Center or Vista Ultimate or Home Premium, you can connect it to cable or satellite service.......at that point it becomes the best home entertainment system around. Think about this, if you have a wireless network in your house, invest in a mp3 player that can broadcast wirelessly, get a few wifi speakers and you can stream all around the house, stream movies from the mp3 player on your TV via the Xbox wirelessly.......it works really well. Now if Apple would allow the iTouch to work on the 360 we would be laughing!! Xbox all the way for me.
Good post mate, Yes i have the elite too and tbh i wouldnt really need anymore space than 120gb's !That was the problem with choosing either a premium 20gb or a elite 120gb with like 100gb in the difference, theres no happy median.60gb would prob do me as im not big into the whole marketplace thing prob because i dont know how to do it ! Btw how do buy microsoft points ? Can you like buy them in Game or Gamestop or something ?? Rather not buy them over the internet.
It will be interesting to see what happens over the next year with these two consoles in relation to sales figures. The new console for the Xbox is set to feature a HD-DVD drive to compete with Sony's Blu-Ray. I'll be looking forward to seeing the PS3 release of the online version of Home, but even more so PlayTV. The idea of watching digital tv programs on your PSP from a remote location sounds very intriguing.
you can buy them online i think. Just noticed you can download dvd movies for rent for 3 euro; which aint too bad really. HD dvd or blu ray who will win, that will determine the future of dvds
Well I thought that Blu-Ray V HD DVD would be similar to VHS V BetaMax. Betamax was Sony's creation and it was and I believe still is their policy not to offically allow or license pornographic material on their media. VHS did allow that and the rest is history. Not sure if this will be a factor in this 'media-battle' or if the two can co-exist in the market. I would personally think that the adult market may not want to be portrayed in HD so this may not be the make or break of it. My mate has a dual player i.e. Blu-Ray and HD DVD and I personally can see no difference. In any case, I wouldn't spend my money on dual devices just yet. I think Warner are now Blu-Ray exclusively. Dreamworks and Paramount are HD DVD.... Watch this space.....
Could go down the same road as VHS v Betamax - whichever format the adult entertainment industry chooses will win out!
The Marketplace is very easy to use once you give it a bit of time. M$ points can be bought from the Xbox360 interface itself i.e. online. Rather than using a Credit Card, I use a 3V voucher or my Wirecard (www.wirecard.com). Just like a credit card. I think you can also buy vouchers in Gamestop etc. 100 points is around €1.20 I find the service very good, for example, I downloaded 300 HD version which was 5.1 gb and it took 4 and half hours. Not bad. It cost around 500 points so its a little bit more expensive than renting them out I think. The standard definition movies are around 300-400 points I think.
