It's long long gone, sure they're probably already the biggest chain in Ireland in about 5 years or so. They're going to explode like Starbucks (another pet hate of mine)
There’s one in Swords must be there 5 years I’d went in once for 12 pubs of Christmas. Really don’t know why anyone drinks in them. You may as well get a bag of cans n sit in your front from with the tele n radio off. You could hear a mouse fart in these places. Grand for an early pint in the UK for match days mind.
I'd be the same. More than anything, it's the idea that they're taking money away from smaller pubs that could end up closing their doors because of it. What it does seem to produce, as mentioned before, is a collection of people there drinking all day. The one in Cork is sometimes surrounded by rough enough characters obviously there for the prices. Each to their own, obviously, but wouldn't be my kind of place.
Anybody see the pic of the big Q outside the new Brewdog bar yesterday. Madness, a new spoons gone in close to that as well.
Never been in the one in Swords, must have a look sometime. I was in the one in Blackrock a few years ago, thought it was grand ... didn't like the look of the one on Lr. Abbey St. though, strong stink of food around the place too. IMHO, we need these guys coming in and opening more pubs though, if only to keep some sort of control on prices ... I'm sick of too many publicans ripping people off, so a chain of pubs selling cheaper pints can only help offset that. For that reason alone, I'll always try and give Wetherspoons some business when I can.
Nope, but I like a few of their beers, so might pop down at some stage ... pics on their website, looks a hell of a lot nicer than a Weatherspoons, so probably charging €6.50 a pint or something to pay for it.
A few of us from here were in that new Camden sports bar on Saturday for the match, it's some spot. I big spoons going I'm near that aswell, good for competition I suppose even if they aren't your thing.
I was in the one in Carlow a few weeks back for grub and it was wojus to be honest. It was myself, the missus, four kids and the in laws so it was a big enough gang and none of us were happy with it. I'd the curry and you could assault someone with the naan bread, it all took ages to come out too. I normally accept in them the food won't be top notch because it's cheap but this was really bad. They'd an offer of a Coors Light pint for €1.95 though so there's value in the drinking. Also they'd BT on the football which I thought they didn't do. I'd agree that they're grand for a breakfast or an early pint on the way to a match, but I'd prefer a "normal" pub if I was out for a few.
The Wetherspoons in Blanchardstown is nice, I went into the one on Abbey Street a couple of weeks back and it's a bit rough already. Ordering from the app is handy all the same
Do U think so. Had 5/6 pints there 2 weeks ago. Thought it was nice enough. App is the business. Wouldn’t be in any rush back but it was nice I thought.
Having more bouncers inside than outside is a bit off putting I thought for Blanchardstown Wouldn't be in a rush to go back
