Nah mate Not 800 or at least I never saw prices like that …250/300 with frequent traveller points max Done it for years
Just had another look there. To bring a car over and back this weekend is working out at 275/300 each way depending on times so just less than 600 return. Thats on the Irish ferries website
The short stay option use to come in around 220 to 260 return depending on passengers in car. Don't see that option anymore on both ferries websites. As Gerry said definitely worth giving them a call to book.
I always travel over by car (always have to wait for the late availability sale). ten years ago it was 160 Euro and over time its risen to 250 Euro. but 500-600 Euro is outrageous.
The reason the 36hr turn around is gone is surely Brexit The short stay is available on stenas Belfast to Liverpool and cairnryan routes but Britain to Ireland is gone
That's a shame. Hopefully they see sense soon on the business they will miss out on from customers like ourselves for footie trips.
Rang Irish Ferries today and after a long wait got through to speak to someone that was very helpful. Told me that the offer had to be stopped to restrict travel during COVID. He said that they plan to bring it back but couldn’t give me a date as to when. Hopefully not too long especially as tickets appear easier to get this season.
Anyone who has driving over lately, where was best to park, if getting to Anfield one hour before kickoff?
There's a retail park with a Sainsbury near the bottom of Walton Breck Road that I've used before. A 10 minute walk to Anfield and handy for a drive back to Holyhead.
https://www.rte.ie/news/business/2023/0822/1401088-po-to-close-liverpool-dublin-route/ Done it once and it was fairly grim, still less options is never a good thing.
Looking to get over to Anfield this coming Saturday at very late notice. Has anyone done the Stena Line 8:15 AM -> Holyhead and 8:30 PM -> Dublin option? What was the experience like? A bit tight either side of a 3 PM kick-off?
Try negotiate your way to be first off the boat and it will take the pressure off on the way over but if there are no delays youll make it to Liverpool 1.30-1.45. You will need to park a little bit away from the ground to enusre a quick get away for the 8.30 home and hope for no roadworks on the motorway If you are away from the matchdat traffic and there is no roadworks you will make the boat for 7.30. It's a one hour 45 min drive.
