At first i wasnt fussed on them, but now im getting used to them. Some mad looking and unsual adds though i must say.
the ads don't bother me at all. if the subscription was compulsory, I'd probably agree with ya Alex...but since it's not, I'd imagine dub13 would be out of pocket more without it.
No,it has nothing to do with the adds, the adds are helping us finance a move to better hosting which should solve this.
Dub13 - I understand the rationale for the ads being there, you're trying to raise money to improve the site but I have to admit like the lads above I don't like them and I honestly think they make the site appear more "cheap" looking. Which is a pity. From before, I can see you had a setting that the ads were disabled for people who had a certain number of posts, is this something that could be considered again? Or better still, can they be disabled for paid members? I know the membership is only €10 a year but I'd happily pay double that if it meant not to having to look at the ads. Especially as they're at the top, bottom and someone else mentioned seeing them along the side of the page today. This isn't me having a whine for the sake of it either, as I said I understand you're trying to raise revenue to improve the hosting but I'm just wondering if there are alternatives to the Ads.
Thanks for the feedback. As we are moving to a much more expensive hosting package (I ran into some small probs with this but trying to sort it over the weekend),I need to ascertain what the max revenue the adds can generate. So I am testing the max amount of ads I would put on the site and plan to leave them there for a while so I can get an idea. Once thats done and I have an idea what they can generate there may be scope to pull back some adds for some users. Its all trail and error,my number one objective is to make sure the site is steady and reliable we are getting much much bigger as each month goes by and I have to be thinking down the line. Some people don't seem to mind the adds, others do its going to be difficult to please everybody.
Ad on the bottom says "Visit endabuse.org now". I read it as "Visit endaabuse.org now", and expected a link to Fine Gael's website. *gets coat* On a lighter note, personally not bothered by the ads.
