The first of four phases for tickets for the World Cup Finals in South Africa 2010 go on sale tomorrow. Im putting my name in hat for them anyway From Fifa.com: Every four years, the world's top 32 teams come together to contest the FIFA World Cupâ„¢ finals. The tournament's big kick-off on 11 June 2010 in Johannesburg, South Africa is still quite a few months away, but for fans of the world's biggest single sporting event there is another important date on the horizon: the start of the first ticket sales phase on 20 February 2009. Anyone who wants to attend the first-ever final phase on African soil would do well to put this date in their diaries. The first of a total of five sales phases will run from 20 February to 31 March 2009, with tickets being allocated by a random selection draw for over-subscribed matches and ticket categories. All orders will be entered into a random selection draw on 15 April 2009 at the same time regardless of whether they were submitted on the first or the last day of the first sales phase. Should demand exceed availability for a certain category or match then available tickets will be awarded by ballot (i.e. through an electronic random selection draw). There are two ways for fans to order tickets: firstly, you can log on to FIFA.com, the official website of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa where fans can sign up for the FIFA.com Club for free. Those living in South Africa can also order tickets via the "FNB Visa Official Mascot Pre-paid card" available at First National Bank (FNB), by filling in an official application form and handing it in at one of the participating FNB branches around the country. The "FNB Visa Official Mascot Pre-paid card" will be the unique Ticket payment card for the fans who are successfully awarded tickets through the official paper application forms handed in at FNB branches in South Africa. As well as individual tickets for the 64 matches, team-specific ticket series are also available for the country of your choice. These are valid for anything from three to seven games. Tickets are available in three categories with category 4 reserved exclusively for South African residents. The least expensive ticket in category 3 costs $80 USD. There will be four further sales periods for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, with the second running from 4 May to 16 November 2009. During this period, tickets will be attributed based on the order in which the application is received and, of course, subject to availability. All information on ticket sales is available on FIFA.com. bloody expensive for South Africa, will see them struggling to sell this one what with security concerns, recessions so on....
Wouldnt be too sure about that. This will be first World Cup in Africa. Also they have apparantly sold 50,000 or more hospitality packages (almost the most successful world cup for hospitality packages) Maybe not a complete sell out, but id say easily 95% sold out. People will go to extra lengths for 'once in lifetime holiday' - ireland in Italia90 is proof of that
was talking to a south african girl last week she said they are really struggling ot get the infrestructure in even now. Roads are collapsing where tunnels have been dug for under ground etc.
Yikes ! Looks like there could be an even worse build up, than there was to the Olympics in China last year if thats the case .... Hope it goes well for them overall though, lets face it they need something good to happen there for a change, they've had more than enough grief over the years etc. I'll be making a pitch for a few tickets anyway ....
Check your e-mail guys and gals (just got this a few moments ago) !!! - I just hope those wonderful people at my credit card company, don't do what they have done to me in the past and decline the purchase thinking it's fraud now ! ... eh, and that Ireland make it to S.A. obviously Anyone else get any joy ?
I'd imagine you'd have to log on to footie.ie to find out that info Garrett, all the Irish Ultras are on there and wouldnt be happy if they thought Reds fans from here were undermining THEIR chances of getting tickets to THEIR games mate.
My mate applied for two to follow Irish until the 1/4s and 1700 was debited from his account this week, so we are on the plan when we qualify Roll on June 2010!!!
Hi mate The ones I've qualified for are the initial 3 games, bought together ... wonder if they've left individual games until after these, may explain why some people have not heard yet. Don't get me started fella, we all have to live and let live, I've no time for this sh1t, left it in the school yard when I was 9 years of age and absolutely no interest in entertaining it ever again (here, there or anywhere else ) If I can get the dosh togeather and Ireland get through, I'm going ... just have to think of a way to explain it to the Mrs2B
Sister of mine gettin married in 2010 and their hoping to go south africa on honeymoon No travel agent would give them a price, until they know wether ireland will be there or not. Rediculous.
Just received my email confirming that I was choosen for my category applied for 2 x follow Ireland tickets. States that my payment was refused because I cancelled the credit card but they are giving me until the 4th may to pay or will loose tickets €1078 in total. Don't think I'll be taking them now!
You sure thats not the South African Currency price mate ? - apparently my credit card was charged in GBP£, then converted to Euro ... but on the Website it shows something very similar to the amount your showing ?
Garrett, Just has 1078 not sure if it's sterling or euro. I'll check with them tomorrow. If it's sterling deffo won't be taking them. I like my goolies she'll chop them off if I suggest going to south Afric!
ROFLMAO I just checked, there is definitely a $ sign beside the amount, having read the FAQ's a bit, it seems they are actually charged in USD$ ! Seen this ? 1. Click on the FIFA.com / Ticketing page: http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/organisation/ticketing/applyfor/index.html 2. Select View your Application from the left hand menu of the Ticketing page. 3. Log in to your FIFA.com Club account and you will then be presented with a summary of your Ticket request(s) and status. So it looks like there will be a second bite at the cherry for anyone interested ! Also, found this on the FAQ's so they are going to charge everyone a fee who is successful, regardless of whether their team subsequently qualify for the WC or not - rip off !!! http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/organisation/ticketing/faqinternational.html
is it not possible to apply for tickets now?? It just keeps going round in circles and i cant see any links where i can apply for tickets??
