    Friends

Myself and a group of FAI 'block bookers' are thinking of going to the above match next year

We usually have at least 6 Liverpool season ticket holders with us for our away trip. These Scousers are great at sourcing tickets for us when we cross the pond - so we always look after them for the away Ireland matches

Unfortunately, it has been left to yours truly to organise this years trip

Slight problem - the Italian's won't tell us where they are going to play the match! Apparently they have until 1st January next to tell us!

Anybody got the inside track as to the venue???

    Cheers & slán,

    R

Going to the game myself Ray.

As of yet no one has a notion where the venue is....initially it was touted as Rome, but then apparently Platini had cold feet over the thought of such a large crowd within weeks of the champions league final.

There is talk that the venue will be annouced within the next few weeks, heres hoping.

Im flying to Milan myself, im hoping for the San Siro, though i dont mind travelling to most other cities in Italy as the train network is pretty good.

    Thanks for that

Have a feeling in my waters that it will be in Rome........ don't know why .. perhaps it's to do with the size of the stadium............

Agree that the train network is excellent - it's just that we are all coming from different directions, so it makes life easier if we have some idea as to the venue

If I hear anything, I will post it

    Cheers & slán,

I think it will be Rome as well and everyone I know going thinks the same. I usually only go to away friendlies and the low-key qualifiers as I dont like getting caught with the mass irish bridgade who tend to show up for the likes of Italy away.

    Hiya,

    Where did you see that?

I have tried the FAI, the Italian Embassy in Dublin & also the Italian FA

The Italian FA advised that no decision has yet been made - would give no idea as to when the decision would be made - only advice was to keep a lookout on their website - WWW.FIGC.IT

They will publish the venue on this website

    Cheers

Traditionally Italy are supposed to play every 3rd game in Rome, but thats been done away with in the last few years. In fact the last time they played a game at that venue was in October 06. The list of venues since then have included Leece, Udine, Florence, Genoa, Siena, Modena, Milan, Bari and Bergamo.

They do tend to play the bigger group games in the larger stadiums and I would imagine this will be the biggest group game in terms of fans travelling over so there is every chance it will be played in Rome. Story from over there as well is that it won't be played in Milan as thats the birthplace of Trappatoni.

A Rovers mate of mine goes to all the away games and he told him it's between Genoa and Milan, with Genoa being the front runner. The Italians have until the end of January to confirm the venue.

    Alan,

Is this the same that was trying extract excessive bucket loads of cash from Irish fans trying to get to the quarter finals in Italia 90? - bitter experience here

According to the Italian FA & the FAI - the Italalians must give at least 90 days notice to the FAI - we must know by 1st January at the latest

    !!!!!

Lads how easy or (hard!) do you think it will be to get tickets for this game? What sort of allocation would the FAI be looking at getting realistically, 5,000?

    Razor,

Are you on the block booking list with the FAI. We will get 10% per cent of the seats. Can't put a figure on it because we don't have any idea where the game is being played yet.

I know *** has a bad rep with some fans. But you get what you pay for. I went to Bratislava and Prague last year with *** and Ihave to say it was bang on. Direct flights, lovely hotels and no hassle trying to get tickets. I usually do the oul three flights, two trains and a dog sled to get to games and you dont really save that much in the long run. I know his prices can seem dear, but after the last trip I think I'll give him another go.

Right lads, I'm not sure if I'm over-stepping the mark here. And I don't want to sound like a wannabe Moderator, but should you really be mentioning the name of Tavel-Agencies? They're just glorified touts.
