I bought a Belkin Tunecast 3 FM transmitter to play my MP3 players songs in the car. Does anybody know the best FM frequency to use it on in Dublin?

88.1 seems to be the best

Used one in the past. Rough description would be they're like cassette music quality. That clarity you get from a cd is not there.

I bought one myself (Belkin, €70)and wouldnt recommend them. Sound quality would vary depending where I was and if I drove too far I would have to rescan the transmitter. Have bought a new car stereo now with a usb port so mp3 player plays straight through. Most new car stereos will either have the usb or an auxillary port for mp3 players.

    Hi

We've one of these and like others here, I think they are less than perfect. Great concept, but sadly they don't fully deliver .... awkward to position in the car, frequencies are a pain with various interferrences (agree 88.1 is prob the best for Dublin, avoid 108 if your anywhere near the airport btw ;)) ...

Still, better than listening to some of the crap the so called DJs are coming out with on many of the radio stations these days I guess, all I want to listen to on a music radio station is music, not what Dick & Jane had for breakfast before they got on the radio this morning etc :D

yep, aux ports and usb ports are the job, no loss in quality and they exist in almost every price range of radio.

I have one of those transmitters which seems to work well in the girlfriend's car but in mine I get a loud beep about every 30 seconds. Not very technically minded myself, anyone know how to solve this? I've tried different frequencies with the same result.

Also, they eat batteries. Will definitely be checking out whether there's a usb port in the car when I can afford to change cars in the future.

Belkin Tunecast is a piece of crap. It no longer turns on. I have put new batteries in but the on button doesn't seem to work. I'm bringing back to the shop and I haven't got to use it properly.

think i saw maplins have a cheap radio with both aux port and usb for something like 65-70 euro. obviously an unknown brand but if your on a tight budget, its a good option. also lidl do radios the odd time with these features for around the 70-80 mark.

me, its sony all the way. best radios for FM reception i have ever encountered and have a lot of spec, value for money.

I had the same beeping with mine. I think it was the system automatically scanning for a better reception. I couldnt turn off "autoscan" but maybe yours is different.
