Shay Given has signed for Stoke City on a 2 year deal, its a good move for him. Its a shame he has played so little over the last couple of years.
Keith Fahey has retired http://www.shamrockrovers.ie/news/latest-news/4013-fahey-retires-due-to-injury
Still looking for a club it seems. He's just too damn slow. I don't think I watched a slower professional footballer live Hope he gets a new club. Maybe the US.

Could be in serious trouble. Darron Gibson will appear at Trafford Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 1 September. Republic of Ireland and Everton midfielder Darron Gibson crashed his car into a cyclist before driving off and hitting a petrol pump while over the drink-driving limit, it has been alleged. The 27-year-old midfielder was reportedly driving a black Nissan Skyline GT-R Nismo luxury sports car when it is claimed he hit the bike near his home in Altrincham, Cheshire, on Sunday night. Police were called and charged the footballer with driving without due care and attention, driving with excess alcohol and failing to stop after a road traffic collision. A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "He has been bailed to appear at Trafford Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 1 September. "This is in relation to an incident on Sunday 16 August where police were called to reports that a car had collided with a cyclist on Park Road, Trafford, and failed to stop before pulling into a petrol station on nearby Dunham Road and colliding with a pump." Gibson, a Republic of Ireland international, began his career at Manchester United before joining Everton for around £1 million in 2012. He is currently out due to a groin injury. An Everton spokesman declined to comment.
37 man squad and Delany can't get in there from Palace. Been almost an ever present for Palace in the PL. Seen it elsewhere that he is left out as he does not get on with Keane.
Maybe the fcuker of a cyclist pulled into the space in front of him at traffic lights? Makes him fair game does it not?
Saw someone say he is 34 now has had a few chances for us and never nailed down a place. At this stage his international career is over. Can't argue with that really. He will be past it in a year or two. We need to build a settled team.
O'Neill said yesterday, he spoke with Delaney last summer before the squad headed off to America. Delaney wasn't keen on going and wasn't that keen on being a squad player. O'Neill just said he can't offer any player an assurance that he's guaranteed a game. He might not get on with Roy but sounds like Delaney isn't all that up for a battle for his place or for coming in as a squad player. In that case, you can't blame O'Neill for not selecting him.
Republic of Ireland football international Darron Gibson has pleaded guilty to crashing his sports car into a cyclist while drink-driving and then fleeing the scene. Gibson, 27, was behind the wheel of his black Nissan Skyline GT-R Nismo when it hit three cyclists who had stopped at the side of the road to fix a broken chain. The cyclist directly hit by Gibson's car sustained cuts to his legs, elbow and hand and his £4,500 carbon composite bike was written off. The Everton midfielder was said to have driven off at speed before he pulled into a petrol station nearby in his home town of Bowdon, Cheshire, and collided with a petrol pump. Police were called by a concerned petrol attendant after Gibson then got out of his car with no shoes on and filled his vehicle with fuel on the morning of 16 August. Today, the former Manchester United player entered guilty pleas at Trafford Magistrates' Court to driving with excess alcohol, driving without due care and attention and failing to stop after a accident had occurred. Chair of the bench Susanne O'Connell told Gibson that the failure to stop offence was "serious enough" to merit a community penalty. Gibson will speak to the Probation Service at court before sentencing takes place later. Subhanar Chowdhury, prosecuting, said the three cyclists stopped in Park Road near the junction of Dunham Road and moved to the pavement to fix the chain. Witnesses described Gibson driving "too fast" on to Park Road, which resulted in him mounting the pavement and colliding with the men. Gibson then drove to the nearby Shell garage in Dunham Road, the court heard. Mr Chowdhury said: "As he pulled on to the petrol station forecourt, he has collided with the raised kerb and fuel pump, causing damage to the lower part of the pump. "He then gets out of his car, was described as not wearing any shoes and he has attempted to fill his vehicle." Police noticed an "obvious strong smell of alcohol" on Gibson's breath when they attended, and the footballer and his vehicle were then positively identified by one of the cyclists. Gibson was arrested and taken to a police station where he gave a positive reading of 57 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit being 35. Mr Chowdhury said the defendant fully acknowledged in interview what he had done. Gibson told police that he had been out the previous evening with Everton team-mates and had drunk "copious amounts of alcohol". He said he later arrived home and had an argument with his wife which led to him leaving in his car.
Jack Grealish is set to declare his international allegiance to England according to reports in the English media. The Independent is claiming that the Aston Villa youngster may declare for Roy Hodgson’s side ahead of the final round of EURO 2016 qualifiers next month. The newspaper’s chief football correspondent Sam Wallaceis suggesting that Ireland manager Martin O’Neill will select Grealish for the upcoming qualifiers with Germany and Poland, which will force the Under-21 international to make a decision. Earlier in the week, O’Neill remarked that the England manager is putting pressure on Grealish to make a decision: “That’s encouraging, that’s encouraging. Roy’s not going to hang around. Well done Roy, putting the pressure on.” Speaking in the Guardian earlier this week Hodgson admitted his interest in Grealish but has also stated that the player would have to make up his own mind. “I made it clear to him: ‘It’s got to be your decision, it’s got to be something you really want to do and that feels right because I certainly don’t want to put you under any undue pressure and I’m not going to resort to artificial means to get you with us and stop you playing elsewhere. I want you to play for England because you want to play for England. “As far as I am concerned I would like him to come out and say: ‘I’ve thought about it, I’ve got the two possibilities and I’m opting for England’ and then he will be available for selection.” The England manager also stated that he would not sit down and talk with the player’s agent and would only discuss the matter with the player and his family. “What I don’t do is speak with agents. I’m more than happy to speak to the boy. I’m more than happy to speak to his manager and more than happy to speak to his parents. But as England manager, I don’t speak to agents. Maybe the FA will have to, if the boy insists, but I’m not prepared to do that. I think it’s inappropriate, very inappropriate. “We’ve spoken to him and what we’ve said, quite simply, is that we think he is a very talented footballer. We think he could have a very good international career and we would be more than happy if he chose that career to be England. I’m still hoping that’s what he will do but at the same time because of his family, he has the opportunity to play for Ireland.” England have already booked their place at next year’s EURO 2016 finals in France and while Hodgson has previously stated that he believes that his 23-man squad will come from players who helped in the qualification games, he would not rule out Grealish forcing his way into the squad, should he declare. “Did I expect it [his decision] earlier? I don’t know. It would be nice if he says yes and then he would have a year to see if he could knock one or two of these players off their perch. That would be pleasant but there is no time limit.”
I'm not really fussed either way about Grealish. If he declares for Ireland then fair enough but if I was him and saw myself as 50% Irish and 50% English and my Dad wore the 3 lions shirt as a fan, I'd imagine the decision would be England. Better players, more opportunities to play in big tournaments and even a realistic chance of competing.
Not yet, but his declaration came from his agent over a couple of weeks ago, methinks...so Martin hardly gonna waste his time on that, eh?
