The guys teeing off at 6-30 should be allowed play off a handicap. The poor fookers must be up at around 4 O'Clock, hardly worth their while going to bed. Gonna back Tiger 12/5, Luke Donald 80/1 and Jeremey Kavanagh 2000/1 (another Shane Lowrey maybe)
Going to stick a few quid on Mahan and Goosen. Both are in good form.Might have a few quid on McIllroy, he learnt his trade on this type of course.
Backed McIllroy e/w in scottish open Think hell do well this week tho Vin. Paul Casey would be my one to watch
Shay, John Duggan gave his tips out last Thursday. They were: Jim Furyk 33/1 Hunter Mahan 33/1 Ben Curtis 55/1 Robert Allenby 125/1 Those prices are with Paddy Power who are paying out on the first 7.
Have not won a rex on any of the majors in about five years (The odd e/w but not worth it), so will be saving me dosh for the start of the Premiership.
That Duggan must be logging into my betfair account, i have all of the above. Furyk has a decent open record with 4 top 5 finishes. His straight driving should be a big plus this year with the lush rough. 7 Top 10 finshes this year from 14 events. Mahans form has been best of his career lately, hasn't missed a cut in 17 events this year. Had a 6th place finish 2 years ago so we know he can adapt to links golf. Also has finished top 10 in both majors this season. Curtis was a shock winner in 2003 but has been very steady in the majors in the last couple of years including top 10 in the open last 2 years. Very good putter under pressure. Allenby was top 10 last year and he's an Aussie with a good track record on links courses back home. Overall his open record hasn't been anything special but with bookies paying first 7 he's well worth an each way bet at inflated odds even though he least likely of the 4 to feature.
Anyone doing the markets without Tiger be careful.....this is often only top 5 e/w which in effect is top 6 assuming Tiger is up there. The only way this market will work out better for your returns is if you come second to Tiger. Any other top finish and you have reduced odds and reduced placed opportunites.
Where'd you see that? Is it on line or customer phone special? Only showing first 7 on Aertel http://www.rte.ie/aertel/663-03.html
Nice one Paddy, just took them up on that offer. Odds are slightly down on Mahan and Curtis compared to other bookies but the extra place is sweet!
