Iwas wondering about changing over is there any difference in the boxs and are the packages the same? ie. will i get the same programmes?im paying 80 euro a month ithink on sky were i can have a full package of phone tv and broadband for cheaper
agree there mate.the in-laws would'nt listen to me and got NTL+ cos it was cheaper.You get what you pay for.
ntl are muck.there after sales is the worst i've ever experienced in my life.and thats not just me i know a few people who had serious problems with them.this morning before i left for work i wanted to watch ssn.i hit guide or menu 1 or the other can't remember.all i got was a black screen for about 10 mins.it was time to got to work so never got to watch what i wanted.i never had 2 many problems with shy tbh.you can't choose what game you want to watch on football first either with ntl.
I went from Sky to NTL when i moved into the apartment(no choice) The worst thing i ever did!! There's no series link on NTL, no interactive(so no match choice on champs league etc) you can't record two things at the same time like sky and its more expensive than sky!!! And the customer service is s**te
sky sky sky sky a million times over we moved over to ntl back in september and biggest mistake ever ntl of amatures and the most useless customer care centre ever stick with sky even if it is a lil bit extra it well worth it in the long run
NTL currently "upgrading the security" of their system and sent out new card for the box (old cards will cease to work on certain boxes soon). And surprise surprise the new card they sent me won't work, fcukin technician calling out next Tuesday morning now, so I asked over the phone can I get the NTL+ thing at the same time so I can record shows etc, only to be told "No that's a different type of technician, you'll have to book another appointment for that" Taking the piss or what. They can stick their poxy service, one thing after another with them, everything is hassle. Shower of wasters. I'd strongly advise everyone so steer well clear of NTL. (they've gone steeply downhill since Jaza left )
Have no experience with sky but can only say if you can stay anyway from ntl , they as the previous posts have explained in more detail are a nightmare from my experience..... just like eircom .....etc etc etc , Ireland eah ?
you have to be lucky and hope nothing goes wrong, as basically thats when your fuuked .On the other hand a mate of mine on the same road as myself has the whole shabang with ntl and swears by them . Nothing has gone wrong for his so far and thats fair enough. I hate eicom too if you hadn't guessed !
Yeah mate, as soon as you have any need for correspondance with them it's doomed. I knew as soon as I got that letter with the new card that it'd go wrong. They're consistent like that, they get everything wrong. Then they talk pure balls on the phone, "did you try rebooting the system?" Of course I fcukin did, 6 times in the last two days. Any other ideas? "Well, erm no sir". Cue the missus sitting in from 9am-1pm this Tuesday, and I bet you that will only be the start of the fun....
yeah I'll be there by 5 after nine and lots of fun sorry, couldnt resist it . seriously carpe will give you the odds (as he knows them all) on a no show . she can always watch the tv whiles she's waiting anyway.
Lads Any of you who are on Sky for a while ... simply pick up the phone, tell them you are looking to cancel to move to NTL because it's far cheaper and you'll be able to haggle 3 months half price out of Sky, if you don't get too nasty with them .... it's worked for just about everyone I know, at least once ! IMHO, their range of channels is better, the sound quality, EPG, Series Link & Customer Service are all better than NTL ... it's just a shame Sky are so bloomin' expensive these days.
No choice in my apartment block as you can't put up a dish. I have NTL and they are a joke. At least 30 mins to talk to someone who hasn't a clue and puts you through to another department who then hangs up. If you going the whole hog then Sky is much better option.
Hi mate I've a friend with an apartment, with balcony, over the southside .. he stuck a dish up on his, granted it's down low on the balcony so not easily spotted from the distance .. he's had it up almost 2 years now, no one has said a word even though he's not supposed to have one either. Might be worth a pop, if you've a SE facing balcony perhaps ?
You get what you pay for with Sky my bill is €102 a month for the complete package (minus setanta) with HD and multiroom and I have never felt ripped off as I was with NTL and they are just shocking. With the idiot proof EPG, series link and multi-start and pick a match options NTL will never rival Sky and I dont think think their picture is as good either as my parents still have NTL. That said Sky are a scabby shower I pay by credit card each month, which automatically comes out, but as I dont pay by direct debit Im getting charged a 75c surcharge now each month to pay by credit card. I couldnt believe they actually sent me a letter to tell me and not just included it in their Sky magazine (another plus for Sky), how many people would really ring up complaining over a 75c a month hike?
Can you get an Sky dish errected on a house in Dublin? How would i know i am so sick of NTL i want to move to Sky.
