Just had my ESB bill waiting for me when i got home from work, so got the laptop out and hit www.bigswitch.ie Done! Easy!!
Long time in coming, I worked on some of the systems to enable the change over four years ago. I am suprised its taking so long for Bord Gais to get into the consumer market. As soon as another one or two companies get in on it, it will be even more competitive.
Not an issue mate, this effects just about everyone on this site so probably is an exception to the one thread per topic rule .... feel free to add to the other thread though mate, the more of us there are looking for money saving opportunities, the better etc. (keeping it "off topic" obviously )
ESB just announced they will reduce prices by 10%. Anyone know if it's still worth moving to Bord Gais
Bord Gais said that no matter how much the esb reduce it by they will alway be 10 - 14% cheaper.... Nice to see if they stick to their word... I changed over last week,
This is the case. Though, in my opinion the ESB will certainly look to undercut Bord Gáis A.S.A.P due to the amount of publicity that it's getting and the fact that 33,000 already have made "the big switch", that's 2,000 per day. So if the ESB don't act soon, they'll surely suffer in the long term, especially with all these green initiatives proposed...
As mentioned above, should be interesting to see if the Gas guys honour their pledge ... remember, thats only for Y1 though, boys & girls (in Y2, I think it drops back to 5%) Also, everyone keep in mind you get additional discounts as follows: 2% additional discount if your' already a customer for their gas service 2% additional (taking it to a potential 14%) if you pay via direct debit. Get in there everyone - it's a no brainer ! Oh yea and as for the ESB, Sod 'Em ... they gave us all a load of bull previously about not being able to reduce prices & for years charged us whatever the fuk they wanted knowing we'd no choice ... so vote with your feet I say !
Has anybody been switched over from the ESB to Bord Gas? I signed up with Bord Gas on the 19/02/09 and had 1 e-mail from them on 5/03/09 promising that I would be switched over between 18 & 60 days. Nothing has happened so far. It seems very slow.
I'm still waiting too, i think once you get your final esb bill (which i haven't recieved yet) your next bill after that should be for bord gais electricity.
got my final e.s.b bill the other day and am now a registered bord gais customer from the 20th april. Bring on the cheap bills
Just heard the ad for this on the radio and I think it said 200,000 customers have switched from ESB since it launched in February - not a huge number considering the number of households in the country and the state of the economy - given the savings I thought it would be higher. Anyway, for those of ye that have switched are ye finding ye are making big savings? Is it as easy to switch as they are advertising? Anyone have any problems?
I switched a few months ago and got my first bill a couple of weeks ago. It was €60 cheaper than the equivalent ESB bill for the same time last year. So, i would advise anyone thinking of switching to go for it!
unreal that its only 200k you give the public an opportunity to save a few hundred euros a year and all you have to do is make a phone call or spend 5 min online filling in a form and people dont bother their hole in the middle of a recession!!!
While we are on the subject of electricity, someone settle an argument for me? Is it more expensive to leave emersion on all the time or to turn it off and on? In my last place I left it on for 4 yrs straight and the bills were the same every time, wasnt a big increase then when I didnt have it on. My sister thinks Im nuts because Im going to do it again
